Overview

Your business runs on connectivity, and when your internet goes down, everything stops.

Reliable connectivity means having the right connection for your needs. It should be:

  • Fast enough for your team
  • Backed by proper support when things go wrong
  • Connected through a network infrastructure that is maintained and secure

At Dark Knight, we provide network infrastructure management and business connectivity solutions that keep your team connected. We advise on which connectivity is right for your location and budget, procure, and manage it on your behalf. And when problems arise, we act as your single point of contact, so you don't have to chase providers.

This page covers our connectivity advisory, internet connectivity options, network infrastructure management, and carrier management services.

Connectivity Advisory

Not every business needs the same type of internet connection. A small office with 5 users has different needs than a 50-person office running VoIP and video calls all day. Location matters too - some areas have access to full fibre, while others are stuck with basic broadband.

We help you find the right business connectivity solutions for your situation:

  • Availability checks to see what is actually available at your location (not just what providers claim they offer)
  • Connectivity recommendations based on your user count, applications, and budget
  • Technical validation to ensure the connection will actually support your needs

Carrier contracts are between you and the supplier. We act as your technical advisor to help you make informed decisions.

Internet Connectivity Options

Here are the main connectivity options we help businesses procure and manage.

SoGEA

SoGEA (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access) is business broadband delivered over standard phone lines, without needing a separate phone line rental.

It is good for:

  • Smaller sites with modest bandwidth needs
  • Locations where fibre is not available
  • Budget-conscious businesses

What we do:

  • Business broadband provisioning
  • Ongoing support and fault management

FTTP / FTTC

Fibre broadband provides faster speeds and better reliability than traditional broadband.

FTTP (Fibre to the Premises): Full fibre connection directly to your building. Fastest option.

FTTC (Fibre to the Cabinet): Fibre to the street cabinet, then copper to your building.

It is good for:

  • Most modern offices
  • Businesses running cloud applications and video calls
  • Growing teams that need room for increased usage

What we do:

  • Fibre provisioning
  • Fault escalation when issues occur

Ethernet / Leased Lines

Leased lines are dedicated connections with guaranteed speeds, business-grade SLAs, and priority fault resolution.

It is good for:

  • Businesses that cannot afford downtime
  • Organisations running mission-critical applications
  • Multi-site businesses needing reliable site-to-site connectivity

What we do:

  • High-availability connectivity procurement
  • Support and escalation management

Leased lines cost more than standard broadband, but you are paying for guaranteed performance and rapid fault response.

Network Infrastructure Management

Having good internet is important, but you also need the infrastructure that connects your team to that internet, and keeps them secure while doing it.

Firewall Oversight

Your firewall is the security barrier between your business and the internet. It needs to be configured properly, maintained regularly, and monitored for problems.

What we manage:

  • Firmware maintenance to keep security up to date
  • Regular rule reviews to ensure access policies are correct
  • Controlled handling of access requests
  • Monitoring for throughput and performance issues
  • VPN and SD-WAN connectivity oversight for secure remote and site-to-site access

Switch Oversight

Network switches connect your devices internally. When switches fail or become misconfigured, parts of your office lose connectivity.

What we manage:

  • Port monitoring, error and fault logging
  • VLAN configuration oversight
  • Bandwidth utilisation reviews to identify congestion before it impacts users

Wi-Fi Oversight

Wireless connectivity is essential for modern offices. Your laptops, phones, tablets, and guest access depend on Wi-Fi that actually works.

What we manage:

  • Site surveys and deployment support to ensure proper coverage
  • Troubleshooting of connectivity issues
  • Wireless infrastructure firmware maintained on an ongoing basis
  • Performance reviews to ensure secure, reliable coverage

Hardware replacement is quoted separately. Vendor-specific support responsibilities are defined in your service agreement.

Carrier Management

Dealing with internet providers is frustrating. Long hold times, confusing technical support, being passed between departments, dealing with fault tickets that go nowhere.

We handle that for you.

Our carrier management service means you have a single point of contact for all connectivity issues:

  • We escalate faults directly to the carrier on your behalf
  • We coordinate with suppliers so you do not have to
  • We translate technical jargon and keep you informed of progress
  • We push for resolution when carriers are dragging their feet

When your internet goes down, you call us. We deal with the carrier, and you get back to work faster.
